Promoting financial inclusion
through community currencies.

A creative bottom-up solution

After some years of experience working side by side with grassroots organizations, we realized that there is a tool that, if properly designed and implemented, has the potential to tackle a wide variety of problems such as local unemployment, inefficient waste management and energy production, food insecurity and insufficient community cooperation.

That tool is called community currencies.

Community currencies represent one of the most creative solutions that communities have found to meet the needs that mainstream money does not fulfill. A community currency is a medium of exchange that is not a national currency but that can be used (as long as there is a mutual agreement between the different parties) to protect, stimulate or orientate the economy toward a specific goal.
